We start off with one of the most iconic melodies in the guitar repertoire. This short piece is focused on keeping a singing melody in the form of a short Mazurka.

Españoleta by Gaspar Sanz

As an example of an iconic piece in the baroque guitar repertoire, Españoleta brings us a taste of Spanish music back in the late 1600’s. A catchy tune in ¾ time that is bound to get stuck in your head!

Study no. 3 by by Matteo Carcassi

Join Evan in learning this iconic study by Italian classical guitarist and composer Matteo Carcassi. This study is both beautiful and very worthy of our practice. We have a singing melody embedded in flowing arpeggios.

Mallorca by Isaac Albeniz

A hauntingly gorgeous melody for the classical guitar that wasn’t originally written for the guitar! This piece was written by the Spanish pianist Isaac Albeniz. You might be familiar from volume one and his famous piece “Asturias”. This one at least, is a bit less challenging!

Bouree from BWV996 by J.S. Bach

The first few bars of this piece are certainly a household tune. Paul McCartney said this piece inspired the famous Beatles tune “Blackbird”. Originally written for lute, lovingly played on guitar.

Prelude 1 by Emilia Giuliani

This beautiful etude features a simple arpeggio pattern that is used everywhere in classical guitar literature, and will help develop your right hand technique!

Homenaje by Manuel de Falla

The only known piece written for guitar by famed Spanish composer Manuel de Falla this song was written in honor of Debussy’s death. It utilizes colors and textures that were groundbreaking for the guitar.

One of the most popular and useful studies in Sor’s creative output. This study gets us SHIFTING. That’s what it’s all about. Let’s learn how to move up the fingerboard smoothly!

This famous study by Swiss-born (Italian father, German mother) Giulio Regondi is bound to get your scales going in an incredibly beautiful way with its interplay with chords and clever harmony!

Gran Vals by Tarrega is exactly that - a grand waltz! And it’s where Nokia must have gotten their ringtone from (yes, that one!). This one is bound to make you smile...after some practice!
